HGEM supports the local Bath community through Genesis Trust partnership

Abseiling

Bath-based hospitality expert, HGEM has announced it will be partnering with local charity, Genesis Trust throughout 2019, to help raise money for homeless and vulnerable people in the Bath community. Providing food and clothes, as well as training opportunities and work experience, Genesis Trust aims to support struggling individuals on their journey from crisis to independence.

Through joint fundraising initiatives, to volunteering, the partnership will see members of the HGEM team partake in various activities from abseiling down Bath Abbey to serving breakfasts. With many more activities planned throughout the year from bi-weekly yoga classes, as well as food and sports related fundraisers, all proceeds from each event will be donated to Genesis Trust.

Steven Pike, Managing Director, HGEM commented: “Each of the thousands of venues that we support has an important role to play in promoting social cohesion within their community. And so it is with us. Genesis Trust has long provided disadvantaged people in the Bath area and its reputation is such that our team decided that they wished to dedicate this year’s efforts to supporting the charity’s work. We look forward to working with them.”

Nick Mayo, CEO, Genesis Trust said: “We are very delighted and honoured to have been chosen as HGEM’s Charity of the Year and we greatly look forward to working together to support homeless, vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the city during 2019.”

About Genesis Trust

Genesis Trust is a local and long-standing charity supporting hungry, homeless and vulnerable people in Bath and the surrounding areas. Via ten interlinking projects we provide immediate practical help for people in crisis and offer long-term opportunities for them to rebuild their lives.

Our projects provide basic essentials such as food, clothing and furniture, as well as mentoring, one-to-one support, training and work experience to support people on their journey towards independence and empowerment. Our vision is a thriving community where everyone has hope and a future.

Over the past few years there has been an increase in the amount of people sleeping rough in Bath, using our services and requesting emergency food. Our work is vital in preventing further marginalisation and for giving people the opportunity to better their lives and prospects.
