Keeping positive through lockdown

Keeping positive through lockdown

Looking after one's mental health is just as important as physical health. We look at how Jason Horn, our Head of Client Success, stays positive throughout this third national lockdown.

How are you keeping positive through Lockdown 3.0?

Reminding myself we will come through this period, the sun shines above the clouds, and I'm lucky enough to be surrounded by my great family and staying connected to friends. We also have our wedding planned for July this year so keeping positive about this taking place.

How are you structuring your day? Have you changed your habits?

As we have been working reduced hours at HGEM, my days have been completely different to usual. Luckily my fiancée has been working full time from home, so this ensures we have structure to the start and end of our days. While it does mean I can sneak lay-in more often than I might have I am usually up and starting the day at the same time.

Are you doing anything new?

Yoga has been a new challenge. I have also started running, an activity I never liked and now enjoy alongside bike riding. I've also been using the time to listen to more Audible books like Ant Middleton “Fear Bubble”, something I can learn from and take something positive from into my own life.

Have you changed your New Year resolutions?

I decided not to make any New Year resolutions as we have enough on our plates for this year. I continue to aim to stay fit and healthy, focused on my own and my family's well-being and staying positive.

What are you most looking forward to when restrictions are lifted?

Being able to go to the local pub and our favourite restaurants for some great food and great hospitality. I have really missed taking that time and being able to go out as a couple and as a family. I also miss my family in Devon and while facetime ensures we stay in touch, there is nothing like face-to-face contact with our little nieces and nephews to brighten our days. And of course we have our wedding day, set to be in the sunny Croatian coast…

What is your biggest goal this year?

To keep positive, help our hospitality partners be successful with delivering great experiences for their guests and to enjoy and run 10k in under 55mins.

What has the past year taught you and how has it shaped your future for the better?

It’s important to remember the impact we have on the people around us, people we don't even know and our planet. We have a responsibility to have a positive impact; our focus should be on our own well-being, keeping healthy / fit and ensuring we positively influence everyone around us. There is always noise and negativity around us, trying to pull you down, but it's important to rise above this.
